Free tool ยท No install

Stop doing math between sets.

Type the weight you want on the bar. See exactly which plates go on each side. Pounds or kilos, any bar, no arithmetic at 90 seconds of rest.

How to run this

You're on an iPhone. A Beyond Normal card should have slid up from the bottom โ€” tap Open and the calculator launches straight away. It's an App Clip: nothing installs, and it clears itself out when you're done.

Plate Math on iPhone: a 345 lb target on a 45 lb bar, drawn as three 45s, a 10 and a 5 on each sleeve, with a per-side breakdown underneath.
This is the whole tool

One number in, one loadout back.

Type the weight. It draws the bar โ€” biggest plate to smallest, in the order you'd actually slide them on โ€” and lists the per-side breakdown underneath.

Ask for a weight the plates can't build and it tells you the closest one you can, instead of quietly rounding and letting you find out at the rack.

345 lb on a 45 lb bar โ†’ 150 per side: 3 ร— 45, 1 ร— 10, 1 ร— 5
What it does

Built for the rack, not a spreadsheet.

No sign-in, no setup, no ads between you and the answer. Open it, type a number, load the bar.

Per-side, drawn out

Not a wall of text โ€” the actual stack, biggest plate to smallest, in the order you'd slide them on. Glance and load.

Your bar, not a default

45 lb, 35 lb, a 20 kg women's bar, a 25 lb fixed bar for curls. Set the bar and the math follows it.

Kilos are native

A kg lifter loads a 20 kg bar with 25s, 20s, 15s and 1.25s โ€” real kilo plates, not pounds with a converted label stuck on.

The inventory

What it assumes is on the rack.

Pounds

Standard commercial-gym set:

  • 45, 35, 25, 10, 5, 2.5 lb plates
  • Bars from 45 lb down to fixed and specialty bars
  • Rounds to the nearest 5 lb โ€” the smallest change you can make with a pair of 2.5s

Kilograms

Standard metric set:

  • 25, 20, 15, 10, 5, 2.5, 1.25 kg plates
  • 20 kg and 15 kg bars
  • Rounds to the nearest 2.5 kg โ€” a pair of 1.25s

Same engine as the app

This isn't a simplified web version. The calculator here is the exact code that runs on the workout screen inside Beyond Normal, so the plates it gives you match the plates the app gives you mid-session.

The full app

Better still: never type the number.

Inside Beyond Normal, plate math isn't something you open โ€” every set on your workout screen already shows its own loadout, calculated from your training max. You look at the bar, not at a calculator. Plus 5/3/1 programming, PR tracking, Apple Watch, deadlift bar path, and a coach that reads your real numbers.
