1. Status of these terms
These terms describe how Beyond Normal intends SpendCopilot to be offered and used. They are published ahead of release. If anything here conflicts with the final Terms of Service presented in the app at launch, the terms presented in the app govern.
Your privacy rights are already documented in full and are not provisional: see the SpendCopilot privacy policy, which describes exactly what the backend stores and how to have it erased.
2. What the service is
SpendCopilot is an iOS application, supported by a backend service, that lets you connect financial accounts, record spending, and see an organized view of your financial position. It is operated by Beyond Normal.
The numbers SpendCopilot shows are derived from what you enter and from data supplied by your financial institutions through Plaid. Institution data can be delayed, incomplete, or later corrected by the institution itself. SpendCopilot is a view onto that data, not the system of record โ your bank is.
3. SpendCopilot is not financial advice
SpendCopilot describes your financial position and makes tradeoffs visible. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and nothing it shows should be treated as a recommendation to take or avoid any particular action. It is not a bank, a broker, a lender, or a money transmitter, and it does not hold or move your money.
Decisions about your money are yours. For advice specific to your circumstances, consult a qualified professional.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use SpendCopilot. It is not directed to children.
- Sign-in uses a passkey held on your device and protected by Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. Keeping your device and its biometric or passcode protection secure is your responsibility โ anyone who can unlock your device can use your passkey.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and for the accounts you choose to link.
5. Third-party services
SpendCopilot depends on services operated by other companies. Using SpendCopilot means those services are involved, on their own terms:
- Plaid provides bank connectivity. Your bank login happens inside Plaid, and your use of it is also governed by Plaid's terms and privacy policy.
- Anthropic processes Copilot conversations to generate responses, governed by Anthropic's privacy policy. Send only what you're comfortable sending.
- Apple distributes the app and, where subscriptions are offered, handles all payment processing. We never see your payment details.
- Cloudflare hosts the backend and its database.
We don't control these services and can't guarantee their availability or the accuracy of the data they return.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use SpendCopilot to break the law, to access accounts you aren't authorized to access, or to attack, overload, reverse-engineer or circumvent the security of the service. Automated scraping of the API and attempts to bypass rate limiting are not permitted.
7. Availability and changes to the product
SpendCopilot is offered as-is and may change. Features can be added, altered or removed, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance, or because an upstream provider is unavailable. We'll aim to give notice of material changes, but we can't promise uninterrupted service.
Any pricing, subscription tiers or trial terms will be stated clearly in the app before you're asked to pay, and handled through Apple's billing.
8. Warranty and liability
SpendCopilot is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information shown is complete, current or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beyond Normal is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for financial losses arising from decisions you make using the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using SpendCopilot at any time. Deleting your account erases every record tied to it and revokes your Plaid connection at Plaid, as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or end access to accounts that are being used to attack or abuse the service.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms will be replaced by the binding Terms of Service before general availability. After launch, material changes will be reflected here with an updated date and, where appropriate, presented in the app for acceptance.
